WEAVING - Mint Chocolate Chip Collection

I bought a floor loom last summer and I took a lesson on how to use it.  I made a summer, cotton scarf and it was so much fun!  Once again, though, this recent move has thwarted my progress and I have forgotten most of the steps and where to start.  Now I am intimidated and confused every time I look at my loom.  There have been a lot of wall hangings popping up in my Instagram feed and I started looking in to how to make those.  Instead of using the large floor loom, they require a frame loom.  The thought of using a frame loom felt a lot simpler and in a moment of spontaneity, I ordered a medium lap loom and tools from Sonora Handmade on Etsy.  Her tools are modern, unique, beautiful, and I do not regret my moment of weakness.  I was antsy as I waited for my loom to arrive (it was super fast shipping, two or three days can seem like forever when I am overly excited).  To keep my mind busy I sorted my entire yarn stash by color and selected a few balls for my color scheme.  As soon as my supplies arrived I pulled everything out and then just stared at it.  I had no idea how to even start.  I took a deep breath and started googling for help.  I found this website right away and it was extremely helpful.  I followed the instructions for warping the loom and then started experimenting.  I tried out different shapes, weaves, and added fringes.  I did not make a plan for these wall hangings, I just made it up as I went along.  My edges curve in like an hourglass so I need to figure out how to solve that problem.  Overall I am proud and pleased.  I ordered the book DIY Woven Art by Rachel Denbow (another person I follow on Instagram) and am going to follow all her instructions and make each of her project to learn the proper techniques refine my skills.  Then after those are complete, I will problem go weaving crazy and all my walls will be covered with wall hangings!

All of these weavings are available in my shop. Head over there to take a look!

UPDATE: Hula (the weaving with stripes and multi-colored fringe) is SOLD.
