WOOL PAINTING - Birds and Frog

I really enjoyed making wool painting as Christmas gifts last year so I wanted to make some more just for fun.  I chose a few animals that I felt drawn to (just so happens that 3 out of 4 are birds, hmm curious).  It was fun creating these paintings because each time my skills improved and I learned more.  I also experimented on two of them with quilting the background instead of the simple stitch around the edge.  For the peacock, I created a starburst behind him.  It is white on white which makes it a little difficult to see in the pictures, but it looks great in person and helps fill all that negative space.  The house finch also had a lot of awkward negative space so I filled his background with leaves.  I love the leaves!  I have ideas for more experimentations with the stitching so you will definitely be seeing more animal wool paintings in the future.

All of these guys are available in my shop.  Please head over there and get one while you can.  Because they are handmade, they are unique and one-of-a-kind.  Even if I were to make another flamingo, house finch or whichever animal, it will turn out slightly different every time. It's what makes art so awesome!

UPDATE:  The house finch and frog are SOLD.
